Suncatcher Decal

Wondering how to apply your new suncatcher decal to the window? Follow the instructions below.

Supplies

Spray bottle with 1 drop of dish soap and old membership card for squeegee.
  • Paper towels
  • A spray bottle containing a solution of tap water and a drop of dish soap
  • A squeegee (alternatively, you can use an old credit card or hotel key card, the back of a spoon, a brayer, or your fingers)
  • Your Suncatcher Decal

Step 1:

Choose a window that receives direct sunlight; the effect of the film will not be as incredible if the window is shielded from the sun. (For the example I am working on a piece of plexiglass at my kitchen table so I can move the decal to different types of light.)

Step 2:

Clean your surface.

Wet the window with the soapy water mixture. Clean the window with the paper towels to remove any spots or smudges. Then, wet the window with the soapy water mixture again.

Then rewet the surface.

Step 3:

Partially peel the backing off of your decal and place the revealed sticky portion on the desired section of the window.

Step 4:

Once you have the first section of the decal where you want it, use your squeegee to seal the decal to the window pane. Be gentle with the squeegee so you do not remove the artistic vinyl layer on top of the decal. Remove the rest of the backing paper and adhere with squeegee. Apply medium pressure to remove any air bubbles.

Step 5:

After you’ve applied the entire decal, squeegee the entire surface again in all directions to remove any remaining air bubbles and enhance the seal. Push the air bubbles towards the closest edge to eliminate them.

Step 6:

Held up to interior light.

Wipe away any excess water––and you’re done! Now you can step back and enjoy the decal.

Receiving full shade the rainbow effect is not as brilliant, but still very pretty.
