Thought I’d share something different with you today. I mixed my own ink for the first time and really enjoyed it. If you’re curious about the recipe keep reading.
You will need a pigment to function as the color of your ink. You can use Pearl-ex powder if you have that. I used a sample pigment I got from justpigments.com. This color is Aqua Green CP-6058.
Recipe:
1/2 teaspoon pigment
1/8 teaspoon Gum Arabic (powdered form)
1/2 teaspoon distilled water
That’s it! Just mix it really well. I then poured mine into a Dinky Dip container. (I bought mine on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Set-Dinky-Dip-Ink-Holders/dp/B08SKQQZ93/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=dinky+dip&qid=1647629925&sr=8-4 )
As I added it to my smaller container it looked a bit thick for my favorite dip pen nib (the Brause 361 Steno Blue Pumpkin nib) so I added an additional 5-10 more drops of water. Depending on how you plan to use the ink you may or may not need that extra water.
I hope you guys have fun trying it out. Multiply the recipe for larger amounts of ink (but beware that ink can get moldy after awhile so don’t make much more than you will need.)
Note: Homemade ink will need to be stirred regularly to keep the ink flowing well.
