May 2023 Lettering Round Up

Did May feel really long to anyone else? I can hardly remember how I started the month. I experimented with more fountain pen content and had an absolute blast with it. I will totally be including more of that in the future. I don’t have a daily journaling practice but sometimes it helps me recenter my focus and get rid of some brain clutter so I might need to remember to journal more often. I’m also going to be experimenting with a traditional bujo calendar and a digital planner to see if either help me. Often times it’s just fun to set up the pages but not something I refer to a lot. I’m going to see if I can make them more useful somehow and compare the traditional and digital vibe to see which matches my moods and productivity more. I hope everyone has a safe and happy June!

April 2023 Lettering Round Up

It was a bit of a strange month for me creatively. I had a lot of energy and motivation but I focused on spring cleaning my house most days. It was work that needed doing but ultimately pushed my art practice down the list of priorities a bit. I also finished up my typography class with the design you see for a patch. I have been working almost every day with a production company to add these to my store but since it’s my first time making a patch it has been a slow process. Hopefully we can finalize the design in the next week and start getting them made. I’m super excited to hold one in my hand eventually. Welcome to May everyone, I hope it holds fresh energy for everyone.

February Lettering Round Up

I hope everyone had a good February. I struggled a bit with the new Instagram algorithm changes. It really felt like fewer people were looking at and engaging with my art. I decided to dig deep and remember that I don’t create art for likes. Numbers are not the center of my creative life. Hopefully I can continue to reach the people who really care about my pieces and that is all that matters.

October Lettering Round Up

And that’s the end of my birthday month! I turned 32 this year. Very exciting stuff! I launched a few new products in the store (and am expecting one more sticker design in the mail any day now). Lots of experimentation with styles and tools as you can see. Just a whole lot of fun this month. Maybe November will be a bit less exciting and more of a time to recover before the Christmas season gets really crazy. Hope you are all well!

August Lettering Round Up

Another month another round up. I’ve gathered most, but NOT all, of my best stuff from this month on my Instagram for you to take a gander at. I also was working on all my lowercase calligraphy this month and I’m excited to start working on some fun uppercase calligraphy for the month of September. As always be sure to follow me on Instagram to see all the goodness and see even more content than I can contain here!

June Lettering Round Up

Which ones are your favorite? I love the days where I get to incorporate a watercolor painting. I also really enjoyed how “vacation mode” turned out because it’s written on non-porous paper (Yupo paper) so it stayed raised and glossy.

May Lettering Round Up

The theme for the month was flowers in the Instagram Challenge #showusyourlettering which I combined with one of my favorite challenges so far #ohanaletteringchallenge

May was a very good month for my lettering practice. I started to really feel confident with a few lettering styles. And I hit a landmark by reaching 300 followers on IG. I was so happy that I wrote the names of some of my followers. If you’re interested in having me write your name check out my Etsy.

If you want to see the videos and animated versions please visit my Instagram where my handle is jwinsorart and SMUSH that like button if you enjoy what you see! Thanks for your interest in my work btw. Love you all so much!
